Crispy Dosa Batter Recipe

  • 2 cups Rice

  • 1 cup Urad Dal (without skin)

  • Salt as desired

  • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek leaves or seeds

  • 1/2 cup Poha (Rice Flakes)

Step by Step

  1. Soak Rice and Urad Dal in water in 2 different containers overnight

  2. Drain all water and grind rice with half fenugreek leaves/seeds and some rice flakes(poha) in parts, grind until smooth paste

  3. Grind Urad Dal in the same grinder until fine paste

  4. Mix rice batter and urad dal batter in a bowl, add salt as per taste and stir it well. cover it and leave it in a warm place for 12 hours for fermentation process.

  5. Next morning, remove the cover and stir the batter, it should look fluffy and thick, add salt as desired and the dosa batter is ready.

  6. If you need the batter for idli, add very less water while grinding.
