East Indian Crab Curry with Bottle Masala

Ingredients


  • 3 Small Crabs cleaned

  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds(Jeera)

  • 3 Cloves

  • 1 Big Onion sliced

  • 5 Peppercorns

  • 5 Garlic Cloves

  • 1/2 inch Ginger

  • 3 Green Chillies

  • 1 tsp East Indian Bottle Masala

  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric

  • 1 tbsp Coriander Powder

  • 3/4 cup Grated Coconut

  • 1 ball Tamarind soaked in water for pulp

  • Salt as per taste

  • Cooking Oil



Step by Step


  1. In a hollow vessel heat some oil, then add cumin seeds, cloves, peppercorns, garlic, ginger and give it a quick stir, then add 3/4 of the sliced onion stir it well and saute it until the onions turn golden brown, then add the grated coconut and stir it well, now add coriander powder and mix it well, let it roast well until the masala turns dry and golden brown and leave it aside to cool off, once the masala is cold enough, add it to the mixer jar, pour very little water and grind it to the fine paste.

  2. In the same hollow vessel, heat some oil now add the remaining sliced onions and chillies saute it well until onions turns golden brown, now add the masala paste to the pan and saute it further, now add the Bottle Masala and give it a good stir, add turmeric and again stir it well, add the tamarind pulp sit it well, pour some water in the mixer jar shake it well removing the excess masala and pour it in the vessel, stir it all really well and alter the water as per the thickness of the gravy, add some salt as per taste.

  3. Now add the crabs to the vessel ad stir it carefully mixing it well with the curry, cover with lid and let it cook for around 10 mins.

  4. Your East Indian Crab Curry is now ready to be served with steamed rice.
