Homemade Vermicelli Kunafa | Cheesy Kunafa | Easy Kunafa Recipe

  • 350 gms Thin Vermicelli

  • 4 tbsp Melted Butter

For Creamy Cheese

  • 1 cup Milk

  • 1 tbsp Cornflour mixed in 2 tbsp Milk

  • 3 tsp Cream Cheese or any Cheese of your choice

  • Half cup Mozzarella Cheese

  • 3 tbsp Sugar

For Syrup

  • 1/2 cup Sugar

  • 1/2 Cup Water

  • Saffron as desired

  • Rose water as desired

Pistachios for Garnishing

Step by Step

  1. Crush the vermicelli in a bowl and then add butter, mix it well with the vermicelli almost forming a dough.

  2. Heat the Pan and add 1 cup milk, add sugar, stir it well and keep it on very low flame or the milk might stick to the pan and then add the cornflour mixture to the pan, add cream cheese and stir continuously until the mixture is thickened. (make sure no lumps are formed), add grated mozzarella cheese, take the pan off heat and stir the mixture well.

  3. Take baking dish and brush some butter on all sides well, spread the vermicelli as a base on the baking dish and spread it evenly, use a small flattened bottom bowl to flattened the vermicelli and add the creamy cheese mixture on top on the base, make sure you place it in the between and do not spread it towards to the sides of the baking tray or it will stick after it's baked in the oven. Now add the rest of the vermicelli on top and cover it evenly, lightly dab it on all sides.

  4. Pre-heat the oven at 150 degree, place the baking dish in the oven and let it bake for 20 mins.

  5. Now take a another pan and heat it, add half cup sugar and half cup water, add 1 tsp of rose water or as desired, stir it well. Once the syrup is boiling add Saffron (Kesar) as desired, let it cook for 7 - 8 mins and then take it off heat. (Don't thicken the syrup too much or it won't get soaked in the kunafa)

  6. Once the Kunafa is baked in the oven, place it on a plate and drizzle the sugar syrup on all sides of the kunafa, garnish with chopped pistachios.

  7. Cut slivers of it and serve it warm.
